The countdown has begun, and the excitement is palpable for Swifties all over Australia as Taylor Swift gets ready bring her her much-anticipated Eras Tour down under – kicking off in Melbourne on 16 February at the MCG.
Adding to the thrill of Taylor’s arrival, RMIT has just dropped the news of a Taylor Swift Fanposium in collaboration with the University of Melbourne. This free event is set to take place at Melbourne’s Capitol Theatre on February 11th, just a few days before Taylor hits the stage.
What’s on the agenda for this fan-centric extravaganza? Well, you’ll get the chance to dive deep into the Taylor Swift phenomenon as leading music and culture experts take the stage.
The Taylor Swift Fanposium promises insights into Swift’s global impact, with panelists including fan studies and music industry academics, Dr Catherine Strong (RMIT) and Dr Liz Giuffre (UTS), along with the renowned music writer, Cameron Adams, the mastermind behind the ‘Taylor Swift – Eras’ special on his Behind The Hits podcast.
But that’s not all – the highlight of the evening will be the first Australian public screening of the 2020 Miss Americana documentary, giving fans an intimate look into the life of their idol.
The Taylor Swift Fanposium was born out of the massive interest generated by the ‘Swiftposium,’ a three-day academic conference at the University of Melbourne from the 11th to the 13th of February, dedicated to unraveling the layers of Taylor Swift’s influence worldwide.
You can get tickets to this free event here – but hurry, because we all remember what happened when the tickets to the actual concerts went on sale!
