The Real Review, one of Australia’s top authorities on wine, has revealed the Top Wineries of Australia for this year, naming Yarra Valley’s Yarra Yering as Winery of the Year Australia.
This year marks the fourth consecutive victory for Victorian wineries and follows a comprehensive tasting process that involved sampling over 10,000 wines over the past year, assessed by a panel of the country’s leading critics.
The 2024 Top Wineries of Australia ranking is now in its seventh year, with Yarra Yering reclaiming the top spot after previously winning the award in 2021. Rounding out the top five this year are Henschke at No.2 (Eden Valley, SA), Wine by Farr at No.3 (Geelong, VIC), Penfolds at No.4 (South Australia), and last year’s winner, Oakridge, at No.5 (Yarra Valley, VIC).
Established in 1969, Yarra Yering’s dry-farmed vines produce refined, intricate, and robust wines. These wines are approachable in their youth yet can also mature gracefully in the bottle for many years.
Yarra Yering holds an esteemed place among Australian wineries, boasting an exceptional international reputation. Their Tasting Room is open seven days a week, offering the chance to sample some of the country’s most sought-after wines.
Led by the skilled winemaker Sarah Crowe, who was named Winemaker of the Year in 2017 by James Halliday, Yarra Yering has achieved notable accolades. The winery was recognized as The Real Review’s Winery of the Year in 2021, Halliday’s Winery of the Year in 2022, and also won Wine of the Year 2022 with their flagship wine, Dry Red Wine No. 1.
Yarra YeringWinemaker and General Manager Sarah Crowe said: “To be named The Real Review’s number one Top Winery for a second time is a tremendous achievement for our small and dedicated team at Yarra Yering.
“Australia’s top producers are extremely skilled in both viticulture and winemaking and excel at their craft on a global scale. This acknowledgement of quality across our portfolio is reflective of our unwavering commitment to producing wines of exceptional quality and showcasing our distinctive terroir,” she said.
As part of the announcement of this year’s Top Wineries of Australia list, wine lovers will have the rare chance to meet with a number of this year’s Top 100 wineries at events in Sydney and Melbourne in June and July. In each city, a major tasting event will take place, with winemakers from across the country in one room showing more than 120 of their top wines for ticket holders to try. Learn more here.
