The Australian Music Vault has unveiled a new exhibit honouring Bart Willoughby, recipient of the 2024 Ted Albert Award for Outstanding Service to Australian Music.
The display showcases highlights from Willoughby’s 50-year career as a pioneering singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist.
On view are items from his personal collection, including percussion instruments used in his work, archival photographs, lyric sheets reflecting his activism, and artwork from his debut album ‘From My Eyes’ released by No Fixed Address in 1982.
Born in 1960 on the Koonibba Aboriginal Mission, Willoughby co-founded No Fixed Address, achieving international acclaim for their fusion of reggae and traditional Indigenous music. The exhibit celebrates Willoughby’s lasting impact on Australian music and culture.
