The program for this year’s Open House Melbourne Weekend has dropped – featuring more than 170 unique experiences so you can rediscover your city and explore some of the incredible buildings, places and spaces that aren’t usually open to the public.
This year’s theme is RE/DISCOVER your City and will offer different perspectives on the built environment.
Some of the highlights of this year’s program, taking place across the weekend of 27-28 July, include:
- Exploring a private home designed by architect Robin Boyd
- Visiting renowned land artist Agnes Dene’s forest artwork at the Altona Treatment Park
- Going on a CBD scooter tour called “Eyes Wide Open” that explores the perspectives of people experiencing homelessness
- Taking a walk on the pitch of Melbourne’s AAMI Park – just like the Matildas
- Go inside the ANZ’s Gothic Bank on Collins Street and see their new banking museum and while you’re there, see the Verdon Chambers which is made up of 10 rooms featuring valuable artworks and ornate features and which are not usually open to the public.
- The opportunity to go behind the scenes at some of Melbourne’s foremost medical research facilities
- Exploring Australia’s oldest continuously operating artist collective
- Having a stickybeak inside ten amazing private homes
- Checking out two former explosive storage facilities.
