Gillian Welch and David Rawlings – a duo hailed by the New York Times as ‘American folk masters’ – today announced their first Australian shows in 9 years, following on from the release of their critically acclaimed album Woodland.Gll
Welch and Rawlings will play exclusive and exquisite shows in Sydney and Melbourne, on the back of their 40+ date run of the United States. In Melbourne they will play three shows at Hamer Hall from 28-30 January 2025.
Woodland was named for and recorded at Welch and Rawlings’ own Woodland Sound Studios in Nashville, Tennessee. The 10-song collection features full band tracks with intricate duet performances all tied together with the duo’s signature sound and lyricism, cementing the pair at the forefront of acoustic music
Woodland is the duo’s first album since 2020’s All the Good Times, a collection of covers and classic folk songs which earned the duo the 2021 GRAMMY Award for Best Folk Album.
