If you’re looking for something to get you in a spooky mood for Halloween, we highly recommend Fever’s Candlelight: A Haunted Evening of Halloween Classics. This spooktacular candlelight concert is sure to get you looking over your shoulders.
Featuring Eclective Strings, a classically trained string quartet, Candlelight springs a sophisticated twist on your Halloween festivities.
Melbourning attended the first of two of these Halloween performances on Saturday 19 October at the Fitzroy Town Hall. The stage was dramatically lit with hundreds of candles, which intertwined with the music to create a beautifully sombre atmosphere.
Just a handful of the songs played included Michael Jackson’s Thriller, Ghostbusters (Theme) and The Addams Family (Theme) as well as a few Danny Elfman film scores.
Of course, no bone-chilling setlist performed by classically-trained musicians would be complete without some more classical compositions as well. Each note resonates with the audience instilling in them a sense of desperation, sorrow and fear, or sometimes just makes them plain creeped out.
The pieces are brought to life, and in cases like Beetlejuice, brought back to life, in a gorgeously horrifying way.
If you’re into the macabre or if you’re just a fan of passionate musicians, this magical and intimate experience is for you. The next location of this haunting performance is The Athenaeum Theatre at 6:30pm on Saturday 26 October.
