The Goo Goo Dolls, formed in 1986 in Buffalo, New York, are known for their melodic rock sound and heartfelt lyrics. Fronted by lead vocalist and guitarist John Rzeznik, alongside bassist and vocalist Robby Takac, the band gained widespread acclaim in the late 1990s with the release of their hit single “Iris,” featured on the City of Angels soundtrack and their album Dizzy Up the Girl. “Iris” spent 18 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart and remains a timeless anthem.
Over their decades-long career, the Goo Goo Dolls have released numerous albums, including A Boy Named Goo and Let Love In, blending alternative rock with pop elements. Known for emotive ballads like “Name” and “Slide,” the band continues to evolve musically and tour extensively, maintaining their legacy as a beloved and enduring force in modern rock.
