Globally acclaimed artist and photographer Campbell Addy is set to take center stage at the 2025 Ballarat International Foto Biennale with his Australian premiere exhibition, I ❤ Campbell. Running from 23 August to 19 October, this major solo showcase will celebrate Addy’s bold artistry and personal story, anchoring the festival’s world-class program.
As a Black, queer, ex-Jehovah’s Witness, Addy channels his culturally rich and complex upbringing into powerful works of art. His striking images have graced the covers of major publications, featuring icons like Kendall Jenner, FKA Twigs, Naomi Campbell, and Tyler the Creator.
With I ❤ Campbell, the artist presents a deeply personal journey, unveiling newly conceived photographs, original paintings, and a short film shot in Ghana—a poignant reflection on his roots and inspirations.
Adding to the excitement, the Foto Biennale will officially open the National Centre for Photography on historic Lydiard Street, a permanent space dedicated to photography and creative exploration.
“Our aim is to become a year-round destination for artists and audiences to inspire, create and partake in the culture of photography,” said Foto Biennale CEO Vanessa Gerrans.
Get ready for a festival brimming with innovation, emotion, and unforgettable imagery. The full program will be released in mid-2025.
