In a new addition for 2025, Government House will also offer special tours during school holidays, providing a unique opportunity for young people and their parents to visit outside the usual school group schedules.
Built between 1872 and 1876, Government House is celebrated as one of Australia’s largest and most beautiful mansion houses. Recognised by the Victorian Heritage Register, it stands as a premier example of 19th-century residential architecture. These tours, led by senior Government House staff, offer a rare glimpse into the constitutional, ceremonial, international, and community roles of the Governor.
Following an expanded tour program in 2024, Government House continues its mission to be more accessible than ever. Community groups, including schools, can still book group tours of the State Apartments.
