The TarraWarra Museum of Art has unveiled the title and artist lineup for the much-anticipated TarraWarra Biennial 2025.
Running from 29 March to 20 July 2025, the exhibition, titled We Are Eagles, is curated by Yorta Yorta writer and curator Kimberley Moulton and promises to be a profound exploration of regenerative practices and transcultural connections to land, memory, and history.
The ninth edition of the Biennial draws inspiration from a pivotal speech by Pastor Sir Doug Nicholls during the 1938 Day of Mourning, where he proclaimed, “We are not chickens; we are eagles.” Anchored in this sentiment, the exhibition celebrates creative practices that reclaim cultural spaces and disrupt colonial narratives.
Highlights include newly commissioned works by 22 artists, including a sound piece by Wurundjeri artist Brooke Wandin and a large-scale video installation by Angela Tiatia addressing climate change and Pacific cosmology.

We Are Eagles is not just an exhibition but a call to connect across cultures, time, and space. With artist talks, public programs, and thought-provoking art, this Biennial is set to soar.
