Uber and Kia have partnered to offer Uber One members complimentary rides in electric vehicles during the Australian Open, running from 12-26 January 2025.
A fleet of 50 Kia EVs, including the EV5, EV6, and EV9 models, will be available for trips within an eight-kilometre radius of Melbourne Park.
Rides can be booked between 9 am and 10 pm, with a daily cap of $100 per person. To access this service, Uber One members should select the ‘Kia Electric’ option in the Uber app when traveling to or from the tennis precinct.
This initiative aims to enhance the spectator experience and promote the adoption of electric vehicles in Australia.
This collaboration between Uber and Kia provides a sustainable and convenient transportation option for tennis fans during the Australian Open.
“As the major partner of the Australian Open, we’re already moving Grand Slam athletes around in a fleet of hybrid and electric vehicles and we wanted to give spectators the chance to ride to the tennis precinct in the same style, comfort and with the same reduced carbon footprint that the players are,” said Kia Australia, CEO Damien Meredith.
“We’re incredibly proud of our global partnership with Uber which helps unlock activations like this in Australia, allowing their members perks like free trips to and from the tennis in full VIP comfort,” he said.
It’s estimated that throughout the two-week partnership, tens of thousands of kilometres will be traveled in the electric vehicles.
Uber One membership is available for $9.99 per month, offering benefits such as $0 delivery fees on Uber Eats and 5% Uber One credits on all rides.
