The Melbourne Art Fair (MAF) is set to return with its highly anticipated 18th edition, transforming the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) from 20–23 February 2025 into a vibrant hub of boundary-pushing creativity.
Under the leadership of new Fair Director Melissa Loughnan and its new annual summer model, this year’s program, announced today, is entirely female-led, spotlighting First Peoples artists and those traditionally overlooked in the art world.
Featuring more than 100 interdisciplinary artists, the Fair will showcase moving-image works, large-scale sculptures, installations, and interactive activations presented by 70 leading galleries and Indigenous art centres.
Three large-scale installations and two major new commissions headline the program, with innovative workshops inviting visitors of all ages to connect with the creative process.
Notably, more than 40 First Peoples artists will be featured across the PROJECT ROOMS, VIDEO, BEYOND, CONVERSATIONS, and GALLERY sectors. Highlights include immersive installations curated by Anna Briers in BEYOND and a dynamic VIDEO program curated by Rachel Ciesla.
The Young Galleries sector has doubled in size, with 19 emerging galleries interspersed among established names.
“This year’s curated sectors exemplify the transformative power of contemporary art,” said Loughnan.
“As we look to the future, Melbourne Art Fair continues to shape the cultural and creative identity of the region,” she said.
