Preston Market’s annual Lunar New Year Festival is back, and it’s bigger and better than ever!
On Sunday 9 February 2025, Melbourne’s beloved north-side market will come alive with vibrant celebrations to welcome the Year of the Snake. Packed with traditional performances, delicious food, and free activities for kids, this is a day you won’t want to miss.
The festivities kick off with a Cai Shen (Chinese God of Prosperity) stilt walker, spreading good luck and fortune to all visitors.
Be mesmerised by a lively Lion Dance, store blessings, and a thrilling martial arts performance at 11am. From 1pm, live music and dance will have everyone grooving along.
Food lovers are in for a treat, with pop-up stalls offering mouth-watering desserts from artisan ice cream specialists Kōri Ice Cream, Nama chocolatier Mamé Cocoa, and Preston Market’s own Joy Jaune, serving Lunar New Year-inspired French pastries with a Hong Kong twist.
Kids can join a free fan decorating workshop from 11am to 2pm, creating a special keepsake to take home.
But the celebrations don’t stop there! On Friday 14 February, Preston Market will host Market Love Day, spreading the love with free roses, hot jam donuts, coffees, and market vouchers. Spin the wheel at the Market Information Office from 9am for your chance to win prizes, including $100 vouchers for Steve’s Silver & Stones and Saltylicious.
