The full program has been announced for the inaugural Roar Fest, a two-day celebration of women in the Australian music industry in Melbourne.
Kicking off on 8 March 2025, in St Kilda/Boonwurrung Country, the festival coincides with International Women’s Day and promises a vibrant mix of panels, exhibitions, walking tours, and live performances.
With ambassadors Kate Ceberano, Tania Doko (Bachelor Girl), and Ella Hooper (Killing Heidi) leading the charge, Roar Fest aims to amplify the voices of women both on and off the stage.
The festival’s eclectic lineup includes free and ticketed events, such as the Women In Music Walks, which spotlight the contributions of female musicians to St Kilda’s iconic music venues. Led by Melynda Von Wayward and Fiona Lee Maynard, these tours are a must for music history buffs.
The ROAR Women In Music Photographic Exhibition at Carlisle Street Arts Space will showcase stunning images by Australia’s top female photographers, celebrating women, non-binary, and gender non-conforming artists.
Meanwhile, the Grassroots Sessions will feature panel discussions on navigating the music industry, managing finances, and creating opportunities, alongside live performances by Collarts artists.
Highlights include the Women On The Bay concert at George Lane, featuring emerging talents like Kathleen Halloran and Ruby Mae, and an In Conversation panel on March 9th with Ceberano, Hooper, and Doko, moderated by Chelsea Wilson.
Don’t miss this groundbreaking festival—Roar Fest is here to inspire, empower, and celebrate women in music. Tickets and registrations are available now via the event’s website.
