Experience the magic of thousands of illuminated lanterns floating in unison, symbolising hope, love, and unity at Melbourne’s Albert Park Lake this May.
The Water Lantern Festival, a globally celebrated event, is set to illuminate the lake from 30 May to 1 June. Inspired by traditional lantern festivals in China, Thailand, and Vietnam, this festival offers attendees a serene and visually captivating experience, fostering a sense of community and reflection.

Upon arrival, participants receive a floating lantern, LED light, and marker to decorate their lanterns with personal messages, hopes, or memories. As dusk falls, these lanterns are gently set afloat, creating a mesmerising display of lights on the water.
The festival grounds will feature a variety of food trucks, live music performances, and interactive activities suitable for all ages, ensuring a memorable evening for families, friends, and couples alike.
The festival emphasises environmental responsibility by using lanterns made from eco-friendly materials like rice paper and wood. Organisers ensure that all lanterns are retrieved post-event, and LED candles are reused or recycled to minimise waste

The Water Lantern Festival’s inaugural Australian tour also includes stops in Sydney, Newcastle, Adelaide, Gold Coast, and Brisbane, bringing this enchanting experience to multiple cities.
