Melbourne’s iconic Flinders Street Station has unveiled a hidden gem beneath its bustling platforms: Miss Gunn’s, a sophisticated basement bar that seamlessly blends the city’s rich history with contemporary elegance.
Miss Gunn’s draws inspiration from Ada May Gunn, affectionately known as “Dolly” or “Miss Gunn,” who established the Loungers’ Club in 1909—a sanctuary for working girls of that era. While the original club was situated elsewhere in the station, the new bar captures its spirit by offering a tranquil retreat amid the city’s hustle.
Upon descending into the bar, guests are greeted by the station’s original bluestone foundations and exposed brickwork, creating an ambiance that transports patrons back in time. The intimate setting is complemented by dim lighting and plush seating, making it an ideal spot to unwind after a long day.
Miss Gunn’s boasts a curated selection of pre-batched cocktails, including classics like Negronis, Espresso Martinis, and Cosmopolitans. The bar also offers a diverse range of Australian beers and high-quality wines, ensuring there’s something for every palate. To accompany the drinks, patrons can indulge in an array of delectable bar snacks, perfect for sharing.
Conveniently located beneath Clocks at Flinders Street Station, Miss Gunn’s welcomes guests on Thursdays to Saturdays from 4pm.
