The Horsham Regional Art Gallery (HRAG) has unveiled a unique opportunity to experience masterpieces from the National Gallery of Australia.
The new exhibition, “View from here: Highlights from the National Gallery collection,” transforms the HRAG’s ground floor into a cultural hub for the next two years, showcasing iconic works inspired by the Wimmera region and beyond.
The exhibition features celebrated local artists alongside breathtaking depictions of the region’s landscapes by renowned creators. Complementing this is “Extending the view: Landscapes from our region’s public collections,” a companion showcase featuring works from HRAG and loans from Hamilton Art Gallery, Glenelg Shire Council, Warrnambool Art Gallery, and more.
Adding to the experience is “Salt, sky and dust,” a vibrant exhibition drawn entirely from HRAG’s collection. Centered on the color pink, it blends traditional and contemporary art, including works by Dagmar Cyrulla, Neil Douglas, and Troy Emery.
“This loan brings nationally significant landscapes back to the region that inspired them,” said Gallery Director Lauren Larkins.
“It’s a chance to celebrate the Wimmera’s artistic legacy and share these treasures with our community.”
