One of Australia’s most legendary bands is trying something new. The Church, who’ve been making dreamy psychedelic rock since 1980, will play their first-ever “Singles Tour” this year – performing 20 of their greatest hits in one special show.
Victorian fans will be able to catch them in Frankston, Barwon Heads and at The Forum in Melbourne this November.
Fans will hear all the classics like Under the Milky Way (that song from Donnie Darko and footy finals), plus Reptile, The Unguarded Moment, and Almost With You. The ARIA Hall of Famers promise a night of their signature swirling guitars and poetic lyrics that have made them one of our most enduring bands.
“It’s about time we did a proper singles show,” says frontman Steve Kilbey. “We’ve got so many songs people love, from the 80s right up to our new stuff like The Hypnogogue.”
The tour comes 35 years after Under the Milky Way won ARIA Single of the Year and became the band’s global signature song. While famous for that dreamy hit, the band has released 26 albums of what critics call “some of the most inventive rock music ever made.”
For both die-hard fans and newcomers, this is a rare chance to hear four decades of classic Australian rock played by the original masters.
