Producer John Frost for Crossroads Live today unveiled the first three cast members for the 40th Anniversary Australian tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s legendary musical Cats. The tour kicks off at its original Australian home, Theatre Royal Sydney, on 17 June, before heading to Adelaide in September and Melbourne in December.
Fan favourite Todd McKenney will star as Bustopher Jones and Gus the Theatre Cat. “I am very excited to bring the original production of Cats back to Australia, and to cast the ultimate showman Todd McKenney as Gus the Theatre Cat,” said Frost. McKenney first appeared in Cats in 1987, making this return particularly special.
Joining him is celebrated classical singer Mark Vincent as Old Deuteronomy. With ten albums and international tours under his belt, Vincent brings his powerhouse vocals to the Jellicle tribe’s wise leader.
Leigh Archer returns to the world of Cats as Jennyanydots, decades after playing Demeter on the 1992/93 tour.
With iconic songs, stunning choreography and a star-studded cast, Cats promises to enchant a whole new generation. Get your tickets at catsthemusical.com.au.
