Victoria’s Big Build has revealed the final designs for a new Mordialloc station, as part of a project to remove three dangerous level crossings and construction of a new premium station in the suburb.
The project will replace crossings at McDonald Street, Mordialloc, and Station Street, Aspendale, while permanently closing Bear Street’s crossing—easing congestion and improving safety for locals.

At the heart of the transformation is a sleek, elevated Mordialloc Station, designed to reflect the area’s bayside charm. The modern station will feature dual entrances, improved lighting, and spacious public areas surrounded by lush landscaping.
More than 1,000 trees and 85,000 native plants will create a green precinct, while the heritage-listed station building and water tower remain as key landmarks.
Community feedback has shaped key improvements, including safer road connections. A redesigned McDonald Street roundabout, new slip lanes, and a smoother link between Station Street and Nepean Highway will keep traffic flowing.

Once complete in 2026, the upgrades will end frustrating boom gate delays—currently holding up drivers for a third of the morning peak.
The Frankston Line is on track to be entirely level crossing-free by 2029, marking a new era of smoother, safer travel for Melbourne’s southeast. Major construction begins soon—stay tuned for updates as Mordialloc’s rail revolution takes shape.
