Titanic: A Voyage Through Time is an immersive virtual reality experience that opened in Melbourne this week, just in time to take the kids to these school holidays.
Presented by Fever, this is an educational journey through the history of the Titanic from how and when it was built to where it is now and what it was like before the iceberg tore a great big hole in the hull of the ship. With the stories of real people who were aboard the ship, other players and interactive objects, the experience uses gaming to make history fun for the whole family.

Exploring the venue at 206 Bourke Street (first floor of the mall), we were quite impressed by the layout, but we expect no less from Fever.
The entrance and walkways are all adorned in lavish 1900s themed nautical decor, luxurious looking ornate chairs that may as well be thrones and of course a LOT of gold. The Titanic is of course known for its splendour and grandeur, and if the facade wasn’t enough for you then not to worry the developers did an excellent job at conveying this in the actual VR experience.

From the iconic grand staircase, first class cabins, an exorbitant dining room, the ship’s deck, its helm to even the boiler room, this recreation of the Titanic was pretty thorough for a walk through game.

It’s so cool to be able to get a feel for what it may have been like to actually walk the halls of the ship (even though I was seven feet tall for some reason). This experience has a lot for everyone, so if you have roughly 45 minutes to an hour to kill, this might be a great fit for you.
Titanic: A Voyage Through Time is running in Melbourne until June. Bookings are recommended.
