The crime-fighting canine is back in action! Dog Man: The Musical – the lively stage adaptation of Dav Pilkey’s wildly popular book series – is coming to Melbourne for a 10-show season from 30 September to 4 October 2025 at Arts Centre Melbourne’s Playhouse.
Following sold-out runs across Australia and an off-Broadway season, this high-energy production brings Pilkey’s beloved characters to life.
Audiences will follow Dog Man’s hilarious adventures as he battles the villainous Flippy the cyborg fish, outsmarts the scheming Petey the Cat, and tries to be a good boy despite his furniture-chewing habits. The show captures all the humor and heart that made the books a global phenomenon.
With an original script and lyrics by Emmy-winning writer Kevin Del Aguila and music by Brad Alexander, the production has delighted families from New York to Sydney Opera House. This marks its first appearance on Arts Centre Melbourne’s stage.
Mary Harvey, Arts Centre Melbourne’s Creative Producer for Families & Children, said “It is always such a pleasure staging much loved book adaptations in our Families and Children’s program, and celebrating the stories and superheroes, like Dog Man, that help make children fall in love with books!”
Perfect for young readers and the young at heart, this musical adventure promises laughter, excitement and unforgettable fun. Tickets from artscentremelbourne.com.au
