Melbourne is set to celebrate Korean culture throughout May 2025 with a series of vibrant events highlighting the country’s rich traditions, cuisine, and arts. Organised by the Consulate-General of the Republic of Korea in Melbourne, these festivities will offer an immersive experience into Korean heritage.
The centerpiece of the celebrations is the Korea Festival at Federation Square on 24 and 25 May. This free, family-friendly event features live performances, traditional games, and an array of authentic Korean street food. Attendees can also enjoy a K-pop dance competition and cultural showcases throughout the weekend.
Film enthusiasts can look forward to the Korean Film Festival in Melbourne (KOFIM), scheduled over two weekends: 17–18 and 24–25 May at ACMI. KOFIM presents a curated selection of acclaimed Korean films, offering insights into the nation’s cinematic achievements.
These events coincide with the recent official designation of Healeys Lane as Melbourne’s Koreatown in September 2024. Located between Little Lonsdale and Lonsdale Streets, this precinct is home to numerous Korean businesses and serves as a cultural hub for the community.
