Iconic Australian rock band Cold Chisel are gearing up to celebrate their 50 years in music with a special tour, promising to deliver all their greatest hits.
Dubbed the ‘Big 5-0 tour’, this musical journey down memory lane will span 11 performances across October and November.
Starting in Armidale, NSW, where the band was based in the mid-70s, the tour will then traverse through the Gold Coast, Sydney, Wollongong, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Newcastle, Ballarat, and Hobart, before culminating in a grand finale in Adelaide, the birthplace of Cold Chisel.
This milestone tour holds particular significance as it comes shortly after frontman Jimmy Barnes underwent open heart surgery.
Barnes said he never thought he’d make this particular milestone.
“There have been plenty of times where I never thought I’d live to see this day so I’m going to make the most of it,” he said.
” I can’t wait to celebrate with my mates and with all the fans who have been such a big part of our story. We’re gonna smash it!”
Adding a nostalgic touch, audiences in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane will witness Cold Chisel perform under a specially-erected Big Top tent, reminiscent of a memorable album launch in 1982.
The tour will also feature supporting acts such as The Cruel Sea, The Superjesus, Birds of Tokyo, and Karen Lee Andrews.
To complement the live performances, the band will release a best-of album in August, further commemorating their remarkable legacy in Australian music.
Cold Chisel mailing list members can access pre-sale tickets for other gigs from Friday 31 May and general admission goes on sale on June 4.
