Held across the country from 7-14 July 2024, NAIDOC Week will celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This year’s theme chosen by the National NAIDOC Committee, is Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud.
The theme honours the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations culture – with fire a symbol of connection to Country, to each other, and to the rich tapestry of traditions that define Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Friday 5 July 2024
- DB Fine Art Consultancy presents a dynamic NAIDOC art exhibition showcasing a series of exceptional works which explore an artistic collaboration between the two artists Alice Nelson Napurrurla and Julian Di Stefano. It’s on in Highett from 5-9 July.
- The City of Greater Bendigo is delighted to announce the opening of the 2024 Knuldoorong Art Exhibition on 5 July, featuring works from 25 First Nations artists and creatives.

- Help enhance the bush-tucker garden at Craigieburn Community Garden on 6 July for NAIDOC Week, with a morning tea provided.
- Kingston Arts is hosting an event on 6 July to celebrate the opening of three unique exhibitions showing as part of NAIDOC Week 2024.
Sunday 7 July 2024
- The Bunurong Land Council will host a Welcome to Country and Traditional Smoking Ceremony, while the Koorie Youth Will Shake Spears traditional dance groups will perform at a NAIDOC Week Celebration at Dandenong Market on 7 July.
- NAIDOC Week Family Day at Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre at Melbourne Museum on 7 July will feature a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, events, performances and family activities.
- The Hindmarsh Shire Council’s 2024 NAIDOC Week Art Exhibition in Dimboola will feature art works from well-known and highly regarded local artists Gail Harradine and Tanisha Lovett, running from 7-14 July.
- Head to the South Melbourne Market on 7 July to catch a fantastic line-up of local musicians performing live for NAIDOC Week.
- Enjoy traditional music, dance performances, delicious BBQ and handmade crafts at the Rumbalara NAIDOC Market Day in Mooroopna on 7 July.
- Mansfield Shire Council has worked closely with the Gadhaba Local Aboriginal Network and Community Bank Mansfield & District to organise a week full of free workshops and events from Sunday 7 July through to Friday 12 July.
- Berninneit, Cowes will be lit up from 6pm-10pm this NAIDOC week with “Celebrating NAIDOC Week”. Walk past, enjoy the projection and Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud.
- The City of Greater Geelong is proud to present First Nations Art Projections each night at City Hall during NAIDOC Week from 5.30–11pm. Local multimedia projection artist Matt Bonner brings the works of First Nations artists to life through a showreel, together with sound artist Lyndon Perry on didgeridoo.

- Baluk Arts in Mt Eliza opens its doors Monday 8 July for its annual NAIDOC celebration and exhibition. They will unveil their possum skin cloak, closely and generously worked on by their artists.
- Ararat Rural City Council together with Ararat Gallery TAMA invite the community to a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony conducted by Paul Kelly on 8 July. Paul is a proud Gunditjmara – Kirrae Wurrong man from Southwest Victoria, and a highly regarded yidaki (didgeridoo) player and cultural performer. Known for his ability to paint a story with sound, Paul has performed in front of Grand Final crowds at the MCG and on the main stages of some of the country’s best folk festivals.
- The Gunditjmara Aboriginal Cooperative NAIDOC Family Day will be held in Warrnambool on 8 July.

- As part of NAIDOC Week celebrations, State Library Victoria and the Victorian Indigenous Research Centre are proud to offer guided beruk exhibition tours on 9 July with Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Elder Uncle Bill Nicholson Jnr.
- Discover the story of Bunjil and make your own mini Bunjil from natural materials at a workshop for kids with Arrernte artist Jasmine-Skye Marinos at the Koorie Heritage Trust on 9 July.
- From Boorloo to the misty scrub of Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country, ACMI’s NAIDOC Week film program presents six short films on Blak resilience and excellence on 9 July.
- Djirra in the West will host a Family Fun Day filled with cultural activities, entertainment, performances, story time, displays and much more at Kuranjang on 9 July.
- NAIDOC Week will be marked with a Flag Raising Ceremony on the front lawn of St Kilda Town Hall at 11 am on 9 July. A Bunurong Elder will deliver a Welcome to Country, followed by a Yidiki Performance and a Smoking Ceremony. All are welcome to join.

- Aboriginal Housing Victoria’s NAIDOC Family Day at the Collingwood Children’s Farm is back on 10 July. Join AHV’s biggest annual community event, featuring live music, dance, food and drinks, traditional crafts, games for kids, storytelling and raffle prizes
- Join in NAIDOC Week celebrations in Seymour on 10 July featuring a parade, tucker, stalls, art and family friendly activities.
- A proud Wadawurrung Traditional Owner will host a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony in the Borough of Queenscliffe on 10 July.
- Dharnya Day in the Barmah National Park on 10 July is a day which Yorta Yorta shares and celebrates their culture and survival during NAIDOC Week.
- Celebrate NAIDOC Week with a free musical performance by LEO, curated by Songlines Aboriginal Music in Braybrook on 10 July. LEO is a proud Makwarra Paakantji and Wiradjuri songstress who uses a loop pedal, guitar and her voice to create ethereal soundscapes

- Collating the contemporary practices of Carly Tarkari Dodd, Kyle Archie Knight, Jenna Lee, Damien Shen and Cassie Sullivan, MARS Gallery in Windsor celebrates the voices of five artists whose diverse practices keep the fire burning on Thursday 11 July.
- NAIDOC Family Day at Nairm Marr Djambana on 11 July in Frankston is a free event with activities for children, Elders yarning space, BBQ lunch and refreshments.
- Celebrate First Nations language, culture and community through storytelling, dance and song at Eltham Library on 11 July.
- Join Professor Andrew Gunstone at Eltham Library on 11 July for a discussion of his recent book Reflections on the Voice – during and after the campaign. Professor Gunstone will explore the referendum and its aftermath, with implications for our ongoing national journey of reconciliation.

- Koorie Heritage Trust is partnering with Aboriginal Melbourne, City of Melbourne and Fed Square to present a First Peoples Market of over 25 stalls, showcasing art, craft, design, fashion and more – as well as free workshops facilitated by First Peoples creatives on 12-13 July.
- The annual NAIDOC March will take place on Friday, 12 July at 10am at the Victorian Aboriginal Health Services on Nicholson St in Fitzroy.
- NAIDOC IN THE CITY presented by the City of Melbourne, featuring award-winning rapper Briggs, R&B/Soul group The Deans of Soul, Kutcha Edwards, dancers Culture Evolves, and First Nations Calisthenics Club will be on the main stage at Fed Square Friday 12 July and Saturday 13 July.
- The Mallee District Aboriginal Services, Mildura Rural City Council, First People Millewa-Mallee Aboriginal Corporation NAIDOC Family Fun Day is on in Mildura 12 July.

- Join the NGV Australia in Federation Square on 13 July for NAIDOC Week celebrations and enjoy free live music, performances, film screenings, art, workshops, tours and drop-by drawing for all ages, and explore First Nations art in the latest exhibitions, My Country and Wurrdha Marra.
- Celebrate First Peoples arts and culture in the Ringwood arts precinct during NAIDOC Week with a guided tour on 13 July. Commencing at Realm, the tours will include an overview of activities at Realm and then proceed to Maroondah Federation Estate, whilst taking in key public art works along the way.
- Join in the NAIDOC Week Family Tour of both the NGV and Koorie Heritage Trust on 13 July, focussing on some key First Peoples artworks at both galleries, finishing with a visit to one of the workshops at the NAIDOC Market.
- Yidaki Support Services and Wellways Australia, with support from Moyne Shire Council, are coming together to provide a community event to celebrate NAIDOC Week. COO-EE will be held from 10am-2pm on Saturday 13 July at the Goods Shed in Railway Place, Port Fairy.

- Celebrate local Indigenous makers, artists and performers at the Mornington Peninsula Shire’s first-ever NAIDOC Week Festival on 14 July at Flinders. There will be native-inspired canapes, Smoking Ceremony, dancers, Yidaki Meditation (Digeridoo), local Indigenous stallholders and more.
- In an incredibly special culmination of NAIDOC week N’Arweet Carolyn Briggs of the Boon Wurrung Foundation will lead participants along a guided Heritage Walk from the sacred Ngargee tree at St Kilda Junction to Cleve Gardens on 14 July.
