Recharge your flux capacitor… and get ready to celebrate the unforgettable movie classic Back to the Future as you’ve never seen and heard it before when the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra performs the musical score live in synch with the movie at a special screening at Hamer Hall.
The beloved cult classic was a box office chart topping blockbuster in 1985 that went on to spawn two wildly successful sequels, and has made an enduring mark on pop culture.
Directed by Robert Zemeckis, Back to the Future is a classic sci-fi adventure film that blends humor, heart, and time travel. It stars Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly, a teenager who accidentally travels back to 1955 in a DeLorean time machine invented by the eccentric scientist Dr. Emmett Brown, played by Christopher Lloyd.
Stranded in the past, Marty must ensure his teenage parents-to-be, George and Lorraine, fall in love to secure his own existence without disrupting the space-time continuum while finding a way to return to his present time. The film’s clever script, memorable characters, and innovative special effects captivated audiences, earning it critical acclaim and a lasting legacy.
Now, fans old and new will experience the thrill of Back to the Future like never before – on a big hi-def screen, with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra performing Alan Silvestri’s dazzling musical score live in synch with the movie.
And there will also be an exclusive treat: approximately twenty minutes of brand-new music by award-winning composer Silvestri, added to the film’s score especially for these unique live orchestra presentations.
