Thomastown is set to sparkle on the last day of winter as the beloved Walking Thomastown event returns, promising an unforgettable evening of lights, music, art, culture and community connection.
Taking place on Saturday 31 August from 6pm to 9pm, this free event will transform Thomastown into a glowing wonderland of vibrant lights, celebrating the end of winter in style.
The magical journey begins at dusk at Main Street Recreation Reserve and continues along Edgars Creek, winding through the historic pioneer precinct at Westgarthtown to Ziebell’s Farmhouse Museum and Heritage Garden. Along the way you will be treated to a visual feast of unique light installations and projections that illuminate Thomastown’s hidden gems.
There’s something for everyone. Enjoy live music from local artists, cultural performances celebrating our diverse heritage, a creative lantern-making activity and more.
This year’s theme is ‘Hope,’ chosen in consultation with the Thomastown community.
City of Whittlesea Chair Administrator Lydia Wilson also expressed her excitement for this much-loved event.
“Walking Thomastown is a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together, celebrate our unique history, and look forward to the future with hope. We are thrilled to see this event grow each year and are excited to showcase Thomastown in such a vibrant light,” she said.
“We are expecting this year’s Walking Thomastown to be the most successful yet.”
