Stephen Fry, the renowned British polymath, has announced he’ll be touring Australia this spring. This includes a Melbourne date at the Plenary at MCEC on Wednesday 6 November,
Fry is an actor, comedian, writer, and broadcaster, known for his wit, intelligence, and versatility. He first gained prominence in the 1980s as one half of the comedy duo Fry and Laurie, alongside Hugh Laurie. Their sketch show, A Bit of Fry & Laurie, became a cult classic. Fry’s talents extend beyond comedy; he is also a respected dramatic actor, famously portraying Oscar Wilde in the film Wilde (1997).
Fry is also an accomplished author, having written novels, memoirs, and non-fiction books, including the popular retellings of Greek mythology, Mythos, Heroes, and Troy. A passionate advocate for mental health awareness, Fry has been open about his own struggles with bipolar disorder. His distinctive voice and erudition have made him a beloved narrator and host, including his tenure as the host of the BBC quiz show QI from 2003 to 2016.
In his upcoming tour, Fry will give fans an intimate glimpse into his personal and professional life. Expect an evening filled with insights into his processes of writing and storytelling.
