Bendigo and Daylesford have both placed as silver medalists at Australia’s Top Tourism Awards for 2024.
Bendigo won silver in the 2024 Top Tourism Town category which recognises and celebrates towns that provide outstanding visitor experiences (with a population over 5,000). Daylesford took silver in the Small Tourism Town category.
Submissions were assessed based on written and video itinerary of the region, online user reviews of key attractions and a public vote.
Bendigo was recognised for its “blend of rich history combined with a contemporary arts scene, and food celebration.”
The city’s gold rush heritage architecture and bustling arts precinct, and boasting the title of Australia’s first Unesco Creative City of Gastronomy helped Bendigo’s claim to the title.
Meanwhile Daylesford was recognised for its charm and for being “a natural playground and popular weekend getaway destination. “
The town’s status as one of Victoria’s leading rejuvenation destinations with wellness experiences, a vibrant arts scene, culinary delights and beautiful natural scenery helped its cause.
