Victorians aged 60 and over have plenty to explore at this year’s Victorian Seniors Festival, with eight days of free public transport from 6 to 13 October.
Seniors Card holders can travel for free across the state on trains, trams, buses, and coaches, simply by carrying their card and using their myki as usual—without being charged.
Celebrating its 42nd year, the festival runs throughout October with over 2,000 events and activities.
This year’s theme, “Explore. Engage. Evolve.,” encourages seniors to stay curious, connect with their community, and challenge perceptions of ageing. From enjoying musical theatre at Club Broadway to cycling adventures in Geelong and historical tours in Maryborough, there’s something for everyone.
Minister for Ageing, Ingrid Stitt, said: “These eight days of free travel are all about celebrating our older Victorians and helping them to fully embrace the fantastic Seniors Festival events across the state.”
“Throughout the festival seniors get free rides on public transport across the state – exploring new places and participating in engaging events during these eight days of free public travel,” she said.
The Victorian Government, in partnership with Public Transport Victoria, V/Line, local councils, and cultural organisations, ensures seniors have a month packed with fun, inspiration, and new opportunities to engage with the world around them.
