Agriculture Victoria and Food + Drink Victoria are bringing local produce to the forefront with an exciting new initiative—through ice cream!
In partnership with Melbourne’s Billy van Creamy, five exclusive ice-cream flavours have been developed, featuring premium agricultural products from across Victoria.
These delectable creations will be offered free from The Scoop, a locally designed ice-cream truck that will be traveling to four popular Melbourne locations from October 3 to October 6.
The flavours highlight some of Victoria’s finest ingredients, including a standout creation: the cinnamon myrtle and brown-butter apple pie ice cream, crafted using Envy apples from Montague Farms, butter from Lard Ass Butter, and produce from Chin Chin Farm.
This initiative forms part of the Victorian Government’s Vic Grown Program, aimed at promoting local food to a wider audience.
You can catch the Scoop ice-truck from today at the following locations:
- Thursday, 3 October: 11am to 2pm, Wesley Place, 130 Lonsdale St, Melbourne
- Friday, 4 October: 11am to 2pm, Queensbridge Square, 3 Queens Bridge St, Melbourne
- Saturday, 5 October: 11am to 2pm, Abbotsford Convent, 1 St Heliers St, Abbotsford
- Sunday, 6 October: 11am to 2pm, Domain Road Gate D, Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne
The Scoop flavours will also be available for purchase at Billy van Creamy stores in Brunswick and Fitzroy North from 7 October through to 31 October.
