Melbourne’s Ian Potter Children’s Garden is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a weekend full of activities on the weekend of 26-27 October 2024.
This beloved space, located within the Royal Botanic Gardens, opened in 2004 and is designed to inspire a love of nature, providing an interactive space where children can explore plant life and the natural environment through hands-on experiences.
It was created in response to growing recognition of the importance of outdoor play and environmental education for children. The garden features a variety of themed areas, including a kitchen garden, water play zones, and a bamboo forest.
To mark the 20 year milestone milestone, special events will include an immersive performance by Polyglot Theatre, where human-sized bees create a buzzing community among the garden’s spring blossoms. Families will also enjoy larger-than-life characters, such as a praying mantis and ladybird, roaming the garden.
