Twelve new level access tram stops have been installed in the Melbourne CBD along La Trobe Street, giving passengers easier and more accessible journeys. The stops have been installed in both directions at Docklands Stadium and the intersections with Spencer Street, William Street, Elizabeth Street, Swanston Street and Exhibition Street. Melbourne is set to get more environmentally friendly buses, with the state government announcing it has awarded Victoria’s first zero emission bus contracts to achieve a cleaner and more sustainable bus fleet. The new Metropolitan Zero Emission Bus Franchises will cover a third of Melbourne’s bus network and will fast track the replacement of existing diesel pusses with 600 new zero emission battery electric buses by 2035. Passengers on V/Line services across regional Victoria will be able to display tickets on their smartphones from this month. Minister for Public and Active Transport Gabrielle Williams has announced a new eTicketing option to make V/Line journeys easier for patrons of the regional services.
